Suga (Min Yoon-gi, 31), a member of the popular K-pop group BTS, has been referred to prosecutors for allegedly operating an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul referred Suga to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office on the afternoon of the 30th without detention, on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act due to drunk driving.
Suga is accused of riding an electric scooter on the streets of Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, at approximately 11:15 p.m. on the 6th of this month. Under the Road Traffic Act, electric scooters are classified as vehicles.
At the time, Suga reportedly told police that he had only “had one beer.” However, his blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.227%, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 0.08% for license revocation.
Suga appeared at the police station on the 23rd, 17 days after the incident, and was questioned for over three hours, during which he admitted to the charges.
Suga, who entered the Nonsan Army Training Center in Chungnam Province in March for basic military training, is currently serving as a social service worker. His discharge date is set for June 2025.
